My partner had surgery on his hand here after a complex break. I left briefly to go grab food & when I returned, there was nobody around to let me back in. After about 20 min of ringing doorbells & knocking on windows, I finally got somebody’s attention. I came in & sat down to wait, & after about 5-10 min I heard my partner screaming so I went to look for him. A nurse saw me & brought me back. He was having a hard time coming out of the anesthesia & the staff were kinda rough & demanding with him when he couldn’t even talk & was just crying. I asked them if this was normal & they said no & I could keep giving him oxygen, which I did, & it seemed to help but then he’d go back to crying & saying stuff that nobody could understand. The staff left me alone with him & I kept giving him oxygen & he started making more sense & calmed down, but was in agonizing pain. They gave him IV painkillers & an oxycodone & he went back to sleep. After 10 min, the nurses came in & said we had to leave, but he was still unconscious. They woke him up & he couldn’t stand so they put him in a wheelchair & said he could recover more in the other room. When we got there they literally told me to call an Uber b/c they were off work & staying after their shift. I felt like it was very unprofessional, like he’s having a reaction to the anesthesia & they just wanted to shove him in an Uber so they could go home. Also I don’t know why I was the person administering oxygen during this ordeal, I have no medical training. I was in there kind of laying on top of him so he couldn’t hurt himself & giving him oxygen & they left us there then kicked us out.
